Remember when 20 pounds was light for a road bike? Trek announced their 2009 MTB line today, and WAAAY up there at the top of the line was the new Top Fuel 9.9 SSL. Designed with cross country racers in mind, this full suspension beauty includes an XTR drivetrain, a DT Swiss carbon rear shock, RockShox SID World Cup and Bontrager’s new carbon Race XXX Lite wheelset and weighs in at just a hair over 20 pounds. Also unique to the SSL is the FSA K-Force Light 2×9 crankset with ceramic bearings that have been manufactured exclusively for Trek. This model will sell for around $7000 and I’m sure will be a top choice for racers who previously using hardtails.
